What is the age range?

Campers who completed grades 4th - 8th are welcome to apply!

How long is Camp Legacy?

Camp Legacy is a 4 day, 3 night camping experience. Campers will leave Oakland on day one around 9:00 am and return to Oakland on day four around 12:00 pm. Transportation from Oakland to camp Legacy will be provided for campers.

Does my camper have to identify as Black to attend?

Camp Legacy is designed to be an Intentional space for black youth to enjoy the outdoors amongst their peers. While we don't exclude campers from attending based on race/ethnicity, we hope families understand and respect the space we are working to create and preserve for our campers.

Does my camper need to be a resident of Oakland to attend?

While our primary focus is recruiting campers located in Oakland, ca, we accept campers from all over! As long as campers have transportation to and from the drop off location in Oakland, CA, they are welcome to apply!

How much does it cost for my camper to attend?

Thanks to grants and generous donations, Young Legacies is able to pay 75% of the total cost for campers! the total cost includes lodging, meals, camp swag, and transportation. The specific fee is subject to change from year to year based on various factors but will be shared with families as we get closer to registration.

Where is Camp Legacy located?

Each year, we rent out a campground facility to host camp legacy. the campground is typically within a 2 hour drive from Oakland.
