Our Programs
At Young Legacies, we're committed to creating events and spaces that allow Black youth to organically embrace and experience nature. By introducing them to the outdoors at an early age, we believe we are supporting the creation of a new legacy within the Black community where the outdoors becomes a more important and necessary part of a fulfilled life.
The Outsiders Club
Young legacies partners with schools in northern California to provide curated outdoor events and activities for black youth in grades 5th - 8th. We offer nature-centered activities on campus and organize field trips that allow students to explore and adventure outside!
Community Events
While our focus is primarily on youth, we understand the importance of getting the black community (teens & adults) excited about embracing the outdoors too! We're working on organizing events within Sacramento and the bay Area that allow all of us to enjoy what the great outdoors has to offer!
Camp Legacy
The "crème de la crème" of Young Legacies is our overnight camping experience! We believe that creating an inclusive space for black youth through a camping session is one of the keys to strengthening a positive relationship with nature and the outdoors. its a weekend of camping games, sports, arts & crafts, making new friends, and of course, S'Mores!
